Infusing the technology with the latest innovation and R & D, at SM Carapace we are destined to offer an array of solutions for armoring of various Aircrafts and Helicopters. Every bit of extra weight on an Aircraft can gravely impact its effectiveness, swiftness, fuel efficiency, capacity and capability. Thus with innovative designs and strict attention to details, we can manufacture armor panels /kits for aircraft/helicopter armoring adhering to world class standards.
These protection solutions have been designed for OEM and retrofit applications and have been approved according to civilian and military aerospace regulations regarding environmental properties, stress, reliability and safety requirements.
Our innovative designs and strict attention to detail, coupled with some unique engineering applications have resulted in armor packages which are at world’s best standard. Our armor panels are lighter and stronger than those of most of our competitors, while having the same ballistic threat capabilities. Our lightweight Vehicle Armor Panels incorporates materials such as Boron Carbide (B4C); being manufactures indigenously, Silicon Carbide (SiC), Spectra, Dyneema and Kevlar.
Designed to offer protection against NIJ 0108.01, STANAG 4569, EN 1522S and other customized threats, these panels are modular in nature and can be easily installed to desired aircraft without much need of expertise and manpower. With their inherent modular design these panels can easily be installed on likewise helicopters thus serving dual benefits:
Protection – From Lethal ammunitions, and
Prevention – Of Capital, by reducing the cost of ownership.
Advantage SM Carapace Armor:
For Light Weight armor systems to gain best “protection to weight ratio”, we use composite panels made from materials like Boron Carbide Ceramics, Aramid and Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE).
Among other diversified composites offered by us, our ceramic composites solutions use the lightest Boron Carbide ceramic, manufactured in our facilities only, thus significantly reducing the total cost of the solution. Being the third hardest material known, these composites are very sturdy and can withstand multi-shot rounds of various dreaded bullets ranging up to .50 cal ammunitions.
The benefit of minimal weight that goes into getting the Aircraft armored using Boron carbide, can be translated into other advantages like–
Accommodate more people OR,Carrying extra ammunitions or other stuff OR,
An option of armoring other exposed areas of the vehicle.
